Geschichte: November – and of course there is fog again! ‘Let’s get out of this’, we said and took the cable way to the top of the Säntis, a mountain we had never been on before. Unfortunately, the plan did not work and we did not get out of the fog – or maybe we did and ended up in the clouds above? The view remained as grayish-whitish as the limestone and the snow on the ground… but the food was great.
Geologie: Even if a grey limestone may look boring, it can be quite interesting to geologists. This is because you can learn quite a bit about the environmental conditions while the lime was deposited. Fossils in the rock provide information about the creatures living at that time and allow a chronological classification. It can even be used to reconstruct previous climatic conditions!
