Geschichte: I love visiting the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Every visit I finish with a wander along the sea shore, looking out to the Swedish island of Hven. I enjoy the pretty pebbles at the beach, especially trying to spot some nice white ones, which are suited for painting. This one reminded me of the sail on a boat and inspired me to do this sailboat painting.
Geologie: This is a limestone, a very typical local rock of Denmark. It formed more than 70 million years ago in a large warm ocean covering north-western and central Europe. The sea was very rich in small and large animals. It was the shells of the smallest organisms that built up the thick limestone layers that can still be seen today in the large, beautiful cliffs in Stevns Klint (Denmark), Rügen (Germany) and Dover (England).
