Geschichte: On a hike along the Swedish coast near Norrfjärden, I found many rocks containing red garnet crystals. They looked so nice and therefore, I decided to share one of these rocks via this exhibition.
Geologie: This is a garnet-biotite-gneiss containing the minerals garnet (red), biotite (black), feldspar and quartz (both greyish). This gneiss was once a clay-rich sedimentary rock. After its formation, it was carried to depths of several kilometeres where it got exposed to high temperatures. At these conditions, it got metamorphosed to a garnet-biotite-gneiss.
