Geschichte: I found this stone while walking along the promenade of the Dnieper river. A deposit of similar stones (iron ore) is located approx. 400 km downstream. Pieces of ore fell from ships and were thrown ashore. There you can pick them up to add to your collection.
Geologie: Hematite is an iron ore mineral. This piece was found in the Kryvorizkyi Iron Ore Basin (short Kryvbas), which is an important economic and historical region in central Ukraine, specialising in iron ore mining and the steel industry.
